Nose Piercing Aftercare: A Simple, APP-Aligned Routine
Less is more. The complete daily aftercare routine our APP-standard piercers actually recommend for nostril, high nostril, and septum piercings.
Daily routine
Spray sterile saline onto the front and back of the piercing two to three times a day for the first eight weeks. That is the whole routine.
Do not twist, rotate, or move the jewelry. Modern aftercare guidance — including the Association of Professional Piercers — has moved away from the old 'turn the jewelry' advice for good reason.
What to avoid
Skip pools, hot tubs, and natural bodies of water for the first 6–8 weeks. Avoid makeup, sunscreen, and hair products directly over the piercing.
Do not change jewelry, sleep on the pierced side, or use alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, or harsh soaps on the piercing.
When to come back
Return for a downsize appointment at 8–10 weeks so you can wear a shorter, more comfortable post.
If you notice persistent redness, heat, or unusual discharge, contact the studio or your physician.
